New Military Leadership Appointed as Junta Chiefs Retire

NAY PYI TAW- In a historic shift for Myanmar’s junta, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Vice-Senior General Soe Win officially retired from their roles as Commander-in-Chief and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services today.


The handover ceremony took place this morning at the Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw.


General Ye Win Oo, the former military intelligence chief and current Secretary of the State Security and Peace Commission, has been appointed as the new Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.


General Kyaw Swar Lin, previously the Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, and Air), has been promoted to Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
