Wa News Land, a local media outlet, reported that China has advanced beyond the designated border fence in certain areas controlled by the Wa and Kokang forces. The report included photos showing construction of buildings by the Chinese side.
According to the report, the affected areas include Chinshwehaw, Kyu Kok (Pansai), and Shwe Li—under Kokang control—and Namtit (Man Kha), which is controlled by the Wa army (UWSA). A local source was quoted as saying that China is expanding a border gate alongside a new fence in Chinshwehaw, with backhoes seen operating in the area as construction continues.
The report also stated that in Namtit (Man Kha), new fencing has been erected beyond the previous boundary. While the earlier fence was located on one side of a creek, the new fence now places the creek within the Chinese side.
Neither the Wa nor the Kokang authorities have issued any statements regarding the development.
