The UWSP/UWSA has issued a directive to specifically teach the Myanmar and Wa languages in the education sector, based on its stance that it will never secede from the state, according to Wa News Land reported on March 5.

The directive was made at the UWSP/UWSA’s Hopang district and district work meeting, according to Wa News Land, a local news outlet.

The district work meeting of the UWSP/UWSA was held on March 3, and four main points were discussed at the meeting, a Wa official told Wa News Land.

“We must not oppress the people, abuse power, or engage in gangs and drug trafficking. The important point is that the Wa army’s original stance is not to secede from the state, so we have been instructed to learn Myanmar language first and Wa language second,” a Wa official said.

The above instructions were based on the instructions of the 2025 Wa region's central annual meeting.

The "Wa" region's 2025 central working meeting was held for five days on February 8, 2026 in Panghsang, the headquarters of Wa Special Region.

The UWSA/UWSP has not issued any statement regarding the five-day central working meeting held in Panghsang.
