MAGWAY_ The revolutionary forces attacked the military junta’s Magway air base with 11 107 mm missiles on the night of 25 March damaging a large number of stored aircraft bombs, said the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM).
A BWM statement, issued on Thursday, added that the attack took place at around 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
The air base is recognized as a primary hub for the military regime, specializing in the storage and distribution of aircraft bombs, produced by the defense equipment factory (KPA 21), to other air bases across Myanmar.
It plays a key role in the junta’s air operations against the revolutionary fighters in the region. The attack was carried out as a counter strike on behalf of the people to hinder these operations and also strengthen the Spring Revolution.
"This attack on Magway air base was carried out by the BWM for the first time. It was a difficult operation and we are very grateful to the local groups, who helped us," said a BWM official.
Following the attack, a number of missiles exploded inside the airbase. The ambulances were seen leaving the base in the night hours, asserted the statement.
Although the stored bombs did not detonate, those remain scattered after the attack.
Now it’s suspected that those may explode at any time. Thus it becomes difficult and risky for the junta forces to use those bombs in their further attacks.
The last assault was led by BWM in collaboration with No More Dictatorship (NMD-PDF), Infinity (Ana), Justice Brothers Force, Daung Sit Aung, and Myaing Paka Pha fighters.
