Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,952) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (30,702) people have been arrested by the junta in connection with opposition to the arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,402) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,893) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 26, 2026, a total of (208) people; (105) women and (103) men, were killed by the junta’s airstrikes across the country, including (36) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (208) deaths, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities with (69) victims, followed by (45) killed in Kayah State.
During the state period, a total of (37) people; (21) women and (16) men, were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes across the country, including (4) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (37) deaths, Rakhine State records the highest number of fatalities with (8) victims, followed by (6) killed in Sagaing Region, Magway Region and Mon State each.
