Myanmar’s Ruby Town Braces for Return of Junta in China-Brokered Handover

People’s Defense Force (PDF) fighters have left Mogoke town after the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) ordered allied resistance groups to withdraw under a China-brokered agreement to hand the Mandalay ruby-mining hub back to Myanmar regime troops.

PDF fighters said they had quit their posts inside Mogoke following TNLA instructions, though some units remain active on the outskirts.

“We are no longer present in key areas of Mogoke,” a frontline source told The Irrawaddy.
