AA Clears 67 Landmines in Maungdaw

In northern Maungdaw Township, Arakan, the Arakan Army (AA) has cleared and removed 67 M-14 anti-personnel landmines planted by the terrorist Military Council troops along with ARSA and RSO groups.

According to local residents, the Arakan Army (AA) successfully cleared 67 landmines during a one-day mine clearance operation conducted on July 25 from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The AA mine clearance team carried out mine clearing operations in Maungdaw Township from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM on July 25, during which 67 landmines were safely removed.

Locals reported that the mine clearance took place along the inter-village roads connecting Muslim villages in Maungdaw Township namely Zula, Hori Tala, Ataliya, and Zang Tila where 67 M-14 anti-personnel landmines were discovered and cleared.

These mines were jointly planted during the period of active fighting by the Military Council troops and the terrorist Muslim armed groups ARSA and RSO.

Earlier on July 4, 35 landmines were also cleared in Maungdaw Township.

The Arakan Army (AA) is actively accelerating mine clearance operations and public awareness campaigns around former military outposts, forests, and roadside areas affected by past clashes.

The AA’s mine clearance units are prioritizing former heavy combat zones to ensure local residents can travel safely and securely.

Since capturing Maungdaw, the Arakan Army (AA) has removed and cleared thousands of landmines across Maungdaw District up to the present day.
