According to reports, the junta army has destroyed three villages in Arakan by setting them on fire, located in Sittwe Township, which remains under their control.
The villages that were set on fire include Chi Lae Pin village, located north of Sittwe near the Kin Chaung bridge, along with two additional villages, Thein Tan and Yat Tan, which are located on the outskirts of Sittwe. This occurred on the night of October 29.
The precise cause of the villages' destruction remains unclear; however, it is reported that the villages were destroyed as a safety measure to protect against possible assaults by the Arakan Army on Sittwe.
It can be assumed that their military has secured the areas to enable drone strikes in response to any incoming AA activity. A local military source stated, "If drones are used for an attack, a clear view makes it simpler to carry out the assault. Therefore, it is possible that they have secured the villages and set them on fire out of fear that the AA will come in."
