Regime spokesman Major General Zaw Min Tun on Thursday again accused the US government of attempting to intervene in Myanmar’s internal affairs under the pretext of taking action against scam operations.
It was the regime’s second such accusation in days. Last week, the spokesman, speaking through state-owned media, accused the US of pursuing a “hidden agenda” in its formation of a strike force against scam centers in Southeast Asia, including Myanmar.
Regarding the formation of the strike force to protect US citizens from online fraud, as well as US lawmakers’ call for a coordinated crackdown on scams and for the White House to reject junta-organized elections, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun said: “The [military] government views these actions as attempts at interference and destabilization.”
