Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,829) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.


Since the coup, a total of (30,519) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,808) are currently in detention, (11,570) of whom are serving sentences.


These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.


According to the data collected by AAPP, from February 1 to 25, 2026, (82) people in total; (44) women and (38) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (12) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a two-month-old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (62) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period, AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (50) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.


On February 10, the junta forces conducted an aerial bombing on Tlangkhua Village, Thantlang Township, Chin State. The bombs exploded in the village’s soccer field and the bomb shrapnel instantly killed Pu Ral Iap, Pu Thang Ceu, Pu Sui Cung, Pu Ngun Lian Thawng, Pu Cung Cin Thawng, and Pu Biak Kung.
