A mother was killed and her young son injured when a Myanmar junta aircraft dropped bombs on Ka Hhan Kwat Thit village in Lone Khin village tract, Hpakant Township, on 11 November, according to local residents.
The attack occurred at around 1:34 pm, when a Y-12 aircraft carried out the airstrike, damaging several homes, residents said.
“There was no fighting in the area. The bombing was deliberate and targeted residential homes,” a local resident told Mizzima.
The child, about three years old, survived the attack, while the extent of the damage to homes remains unknown, the resident added.
In recent days, artillery shells also struck near Yuma village monastery on 8 November and Hmaw Sisa village monastery on 9 November. A 20-year-old woman was killed in the latter explosion, according to local reports.
