Two newly constructed Temporary Operational Bases (TOBs) for the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were officially inaugurated yesterday at the Ghumdhum border area to enhance security and operational capabilities along the Bangladesh-Myanmar frontier.

The bases are situated at Aracchatala Tila and Haturani Tila within Ghumdhum Union of Naikhongchhari Upazila, located in the Bandarban District of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The facilities were officially inaugurated on Wednesday, September 16, by Brigadier General Kazi Shamsher Uddin, the BGB Cox's Bazar Region Commander.

Following the ceremony, Brigadier General Uddin inspected the outposts and instructed the deployed personnel to execute their border security duties with the utmost vigilance, professionalism, and efficiency.

He emphasized that these strategically positioned bases will significantly boost surveillance and patrol efficiency along the Arakan border.

Furthermore, the new outposts are expected to strengthen the BGB's capacity to counter drug trafficking, prevent illegal infiltration, curb smuggling, and safeguard the lives and properties of local residents.

Brigadier General Uddin noted that despite being located in remote and hazardous terrain, the bases will ensure a rapid tactical response to any emerging border situations.

The high-profile inauguration ceremony was also attended by Colonel Md. Anwar-ul-Alam, Commander of the BGB Ramu Sector, and Lieutenant Colonel SM Khairul Alam, Commander of the Cox's Bazar-based 34th Battalion, alongside other senior BGB officers and government officials.
