Two displaced civilians were killed and at least five others sustained injuries after the Military Commission launched airstrikes yesterday, June 1, targeting several locations sheltering internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ramree and Toungup townships of the Arakan.

At around 9:30 PM yesterday, June 1, the Myanmar Military Commission deployed two jet fighters to drop four bombs on the Kyaung Cha Twin IDP camp in Ramree Township. The attack resulted in the immediate death of two elderly displaced civilians, while at least five others, including women and elderly individuals, suffered injuries.

In a separate incident yesterday morning at around 9:00 AM, the Military Commission forces utilized four jet fighters and a Y-12 transport aircraft to conduct airstrikes on sites sheltering displaced populations in Sar Pyin and Kin Taung villages within Toungup Township.

The Military Commission carried out these consecutive aerial bombardments on IDP shelters across both Toungup and Ramree townships within the single day of June 1. Total casualties are expected to rise, and due to the relentless nature of the airstrikes, displaced families are continuing to flee toward safer areas.

The Military Commission group has been systematically carrying out ongoing airstrikes targeting civilian-populated areas within territories controlled by the Arakan Army (AA).

Consequently, the United League of Arakan / Arakan Army (ULA/AA) has urged local residents to remain highly vigilant regarding the threat of ongoing air attacks.
