57 Innocent Civilians Killed and Injured in Arakan within Two Months Due to Military Commission’s Heavy Artillery Fire and Airstrikes

During the two-month period from April 1 to May 31, 2026, a total of 57 innocent civilians were killed and injured in Arakan due to the heavy artillery fire and bombardment by the Military Commission. This information was officially released yesterday, June 1, by the Arakan Responders for Emergency (ARE).
According to data collected through accessible means by the Arakan Responders for Emergency (ARE), the Military Commission’s airstrikes, heavy artillery fire from naval vessels, drone attacks, and explosive remnants of war (ERW) caused a total of 57 civilian casualties, consisting of 9 deaths and 48 injuries, across nine townships in Arakan.
Among the 9 deceased individuals, there were 2 young females under the age of 18; 3 men and 2 women between the ages of 18 and 60; and 1 man and 1 woman over the age of 60.
Among the 48 injured individuals, there were 8 young males and 4 young females under the age of 18; 22 men (including 2 Buddhist monks) and 8 women between the ages of 18 and 60; and 5 men and 1 woman over the age of 60.
The statement also noted that the actual number of casualties and fatalities during April and May could be significantly higher than the currently recorded figures.
ARE stated that the injury or loss of life of each individual represents an irreplaceable loss to their families and society, expressing deep sorrow and standing in full solidarity with the victims and their families.
Furthermore, the Arakan Responders for Emergency (ARE) highlighted that they are striving to assist and support the victims and their family members through all possible means, standing firmly with those affected to alleviate their hardships as much as possible.
