Two civilians killed during military counteroffensive in Magway Region’s Myaing Township

At least two civilians were killed and three others were injured in airstrikes and gyrocopter attacks carried out by regime forces in Magway Region’s Myaing Township, located 130 miles (209 km) north of the region’s capital Magway, over the weekend.

Myaing residents told DVB that three Myanmar Air Force jets dropped 56 bombs around Yargyipyin and Manyin villages targeting civilians on Sunday. No casualties were reported. Myaing is contested by the People’s Defence Force (PDF).

Two displaced residents were killed and three others injured when three gyrocopters carried out an unknown number of attacks near Suwon village in Myaing on Saturday.

A gyrocopter is a miniature helicopter used for short-range, low-level attacks typically on defenceless targets, according to Bangkok-based security analyst Anthony Davis.
