Two Innocent Civilians Killed in Renewed Airstrikes Using Jet Fighters and Y-12 Aircraft by Terrorist Military on Phet Kya Village, Ponnagyun Township

The terrorist Myanmar military launched midnight airstrikes on Phet Kya Village in Ponnagyun Township, Arakan State today, September 23.

At around 12:40 AM midnight today, September 23, the terrorist Myanmar military used two jet fighters and a Y-12 aircraft to drop nearly 20 bombs from the air on Phet Kya Village in Ponnagyun Township.

During the bombing attack, 57-year-old U Maung Mya Kyi, an internally displaced person from Sanpya Ward in Ponnagyun Town who was sheltering in Phet Kya Village, and 76-year-old local resident U Aung Than Maung from Phet Kya Village sustained severe injuries from shrapnel and passed away.

Bombs dropped by the terrorist Myanmar military's jet fighters exploded near the village school and within residential areas where local civilians live.

Earlier on September 17 at around 11:30 PM, the terrorist military group launched an airstrike using incendiary bombs on Phet Kya Village in Ponnagyun Township, Arakha State, directly hitting a residential home that burned to the ground and leaving a local resident severely injured.

Currently, heavy clashes are ongoing along the Sittwe-Ponnagyun township border. Due to continuous airstrikes and heavy artillery shelling by the terrorist military group on nearby civilian villages, thousands of local residents from over 20 villages in Ponnagyun Township including Kwam Taung, Sa Par Htar, Phet Kya, and Di Par Yon have been forced to flee to safer areas.

Since September 4, the terrorist military group launched an offensive into Ponnagyun Township with over 1,000 troops divided into multiple columns. However, after facing defeats against the Arakan Army (AA), they have been continuously launching airstrikes targeting non-military civilian residential areas.
