TNLA ‘Helping Myanmar Junta Expand Territory’ Around Mongmit

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) stands accused of assisting junta troops in extending their territory to rural parts of Mongmit Township in northern Shan State.

A local source said the regime is expanding operations beyond Mongmit town (or Momeik), which it took back from the TNLA under a China-brokered ceasefire at the end of last year.

The TNLA also returned the neighboring ruby-mining hub of Mogoke in Mandalay Region, escorting junta convoys into both towns in early December .
