Thailand has repatriated 94 Myanmar nationals to Kawthoung, Myanmar via Ranong, according to sources.

On January 13, Thai officials contacted Myanmar officials and repatriated 94 Myanmar nationals by sea.

The Myanmar nationals were detained at the Immigration Detention Center (IDC) in Ranong, Ranong Province, Thailand, and were transferred back to Kawthoung.

The Myanmar nationals, 74 men and 20 women, were handed over by Ranong-based labour attaché U Aung Soe Than in seven boats and received by U Ye Zarni, Deputy Head of the Township Management and Administration Committee, and officials.

The returned Myanmar nationals were tested for COVID-19 infection, for personal information whether there were blacklisted individuals, wanted persons, victims of human trafficking, and fugitives or not, and have arranged for them to return to their respective places of residence.

Thailand has deported Myanmar citizens twice in early 2026, and has already deported about 160 Myanmar citizens in two weeks.
