Assessment

The latest developments show intensifying military pressure in Rakhine, with sustained airstrikes killing and injuring civilians. Meanwhile, flooding disasters in Dawei, Cambodia and Thailand compound the humanitarian toll across the region. Myanmar refugees and traders in Malaysia and Mizoram continue to face mounting legal and economic precarity, while the persistence of internet-enabled scam operations along the Thai border underscores the limits of cross-border enforcement.
