The National Unity Government (NUG)

• In Minbu Township of Magway Region, the revolution forces seized control of the junta’s police station in Montaung Village and destroyed it on January 16. After that, the junta police have conducted tight interrogation of local people.

• The NUG announced on Thursday night that they had burned narcotic drugs seized from the vehicles in the areas under their influence.

• Dr. Zaw Wai Soe pledged that no matter how difficult it was to raise funds for the revolution, the NUG would never work with narcotic substances.

• In Oattwin Township of Bago Region, there was an attack on junta troops invading the area. According to Bago Yoma People’s Defence Force, around 50 junta soldiers died.

• The NUG sent a statement of congratulations to the Karenni National Progressive Party on their successful completion of the 15^th Party Congress. They also stated that it was such an honour for Karenni people and the revolutionary journey to have democratically elected new leadership via the congress.

• Under Ministry of Defence-NUG, 4 forces merged as a column to fight the military junta in Yinmabin District of Sagaing Region.

• In a liberated area, the NUG met with Sagaing Federal Unit Interim Government on January 26. Reportedly, they frankly discussed the division of competency.

• The committees representing states and federal units announced that any agreement with the military junta without the people’s desire is illegitimate and the future governments would not be responsible for them.
