The National Unity Government (NUG)


· On the border of Pauk and Myaing Township under the control of a Local Defence Force and People’s Administration, the People’s Defence Forces entered the area for Thayetkan Oil Field to be transferred to Ministry of Defence-NUG. Consequently, there has been tension in the area. Reportedly, they have also been in negotiations.


· Ministry of Human Rights-NUG stated that the military junta had conducted more than 5,000 airstrikes against the public while attempting to show off with the sham election and the government under pretence.


· At 1:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting between Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and People’s Administration Teams from Magway Region.


· In Pakkoku Township of Magway Region, there was a drone attack on the junta army invading the area. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers were injured. In addition, there has been ongoing fighting.


· In Pauk Township of Magway Region, the junta ration troop conducted drone attacks and fired heavy artillery on local villages. According to the Local Humanitarian Department, 7 people were injured and over 9,000 people from 14 villages had to flee.


Revolution Activities


· On Wednesday, Local CDM Staff Councils released a joint statement, welcoming and supporting the establishment of the Steering Council for the Emergence of a Federal Democratic Union-SCEF.


· In Wetlet Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing on Mingone Village. Reportedly, over 10 houses were burnt down and local residents had to run away.


· The British Ambassador for Human Rights stated that the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar has been the worst and remains in an emergency situation, and thus it is not possible for the international community to ignore it.


· In Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region, there were drone attacks on the junta army, police station and the city hall for six consecutive days.


· According to Red Wolves of Mogok, they have been re-strengthening their forces near the town although they had to withdraw from Mogok.


· In Kawkarait Township, KyarIn Seikgyi Township and Hpapun District of Karen State, the junta army carried out attacks via fighter jets and heavy weapons. According to the Karen Peace Support Network, 2 people lost their lives and houses were damaged.


· On Wednesday, Kachin State Human Rights Protectors’ Network released a statement with strong condemnation against the junta’s activities to resume the construction of the Myitsone Dam Project.


Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)


· In Thandwe Township under the control of the Arakan Army in Rakhine State, the junta army conducted an airstrike on the vicinity of their former regiment (55) on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, 4 displaced family members, including 2 children, lost their lives.


· Except for liquor and beer manufactured by the military junta, the United League of Arakan-ULA officially permitted the sale and consumption of foreign alcoholic drinks within their temporarily-fixed time.


· In Nyaunglebin District under Karen National Union Brigade (3), a conscripted soldier from the junta army defected to the KNU.


The Military Commission


· The Myawaddy-Kawkareik section of the Asia Highway, a crucial route for Thailand–Myanmar border trade, was reopened on Thursday morning. Reportedly, cargo trucks and heavy vehicles are still not permitted to pass. Only small vehicles and passenger vans are currently allowed to use the road.


· In Patheingyi Township of Mandalay Region, the junta’s municipal landfill was on fire the entire night in Kyar Ni Kan Village in early April with intense heat.


· At Pyitaungsu Hluttaw Assembly on Thursday, it was announced that the President for the junta’s government would be elected on April 3.


· The junta’s Ministry of Finance and Revenue announced that exemptions will be granted on customs duty, special goods tax, commercial tax, and advance income tax levied on the importation of diesel. Also, a two per cent advance income tax levied on the importation of fertilizers will be exempted until April 30 2026.


· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing emphasized the need to implement a vehicle exchange system that allows the import of electric vehicles to replace older, fuel-powered vehicles to reduce the nation’s domestic fuel demands.


· In Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region, the junta army regained control over Winwa Camp seized by a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army and PDFs.


· The junta’s CEIR and EIR System Management Team announced that if additional physical SIM cards or eSIMs are inserted into the remaining SIM slots of these whitelisted handsets, the IMEI code may be shown as unpaid and prompts requesting tax payment may appear. However, no tax payment is required for these handsets.
