Despite the military junta’s insistence that women are not being conscripted, reports suggest that authorities are collecting their information in both urban and rural areas.
On 29 January, the Information Team of the State Administration Council (SAC) stated that women have not yet been registered for military service. This clarification was issued following media inquiries about claims that lists of women’s names were being compiled for conscription.
While the exact details of these lists remain unclear, reports indicate that women’s names have been submitted to ward administration offices in some areas.
