Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan undertook a working visit to Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on 9 October 2025. The one-day visit was undertaken in the Foreign Minister’s capacity as Chair of ASEAN.
During the visit, the Foreign Minister called on the Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) and Acting President of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, and Prime Minister and Union Minister for National Planning, U Nyo Saw. He also met with Union Minister of Foreign Affairs U Than Swe.
In his engagements, the Foreign Minister spoke on the main thrusts of the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus (5PC), namely the cessation of violence, humanitarian assistance, and inclusive dialogue with all Myanmar stakeholders. He urged for the cessation of attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructures, for the declaration of ceasefires, and for the channelling of humanitarian assistance to those in need, without restrictions. He also formally reaffirmed Malaysia’s readiness to offer its “good offices” and provide a conducive and neutral environment to facilitate inclusive dialogue with all Myanmar stakeholders, underscoring ASEAN’s commitment to an all-inclusive solution. ...
