An ambush on junta-appointed administrators inspecting polling stations in Kamma Township, Magwe Region during stage two of the junta’s election killed one and injured several Sunday, according to regime-backed media.
News outlet PAN reported that two vehicles carrying township-level administrator Zaw Min Naing and three bodyguards were attacked with explosives and firearms as they travelled between villages, with the regime blaming “terrorist” People’s Defense Force (PDF) fighters.
The report – accompanied by photographs of a body – said the regime administrator succumbed to gunshot wounds in the abdomen and shoulder, while his driver, Thant Zin Aung, suffered back and arm injuries in the ambush.
