Muslims where compelled to pray in front of nearby mosques for Eir al-Fitr on 31 March, after religious buildings in Myanmar were damaged by the earthquake, including second-largest city, Mandalay.
“Adequate mosques are scarce. We have no choice but to pray in the fields in front of the mosques, regardless of the available space,” said a Muslim from Tada U Township.
After mosques were destroyed, prayers were held on the streets in front of the mosques this morning in Yamethin, Mandalay Region. In some areas, prayers had to be split into two groups due to limited space.
