A woman was killed and two other civilians, including an internally displaced person (IDP), were wounded during an afternoon airstrike on Pannilar Village in Ponnagyun Township on October 23.

A junta jet fighter dropped a 500-pound bomb shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, killing a local mother instantly and injuring an elderly woman and a displaced youth.

“The airstrike targeted the area directly in front of the local school,” a female resident of Pannilar Village said. “We had barely heard the aircraft noise before the bomb was dropped. A mother was killed instantly at the scene. An elderly woman and a displaced youth were also wounded.”

The deceased was identified as 46-year-old Daw Hla Chay Tin from Pannilar Village. The injured were identified as 63-year-old Daw Ma Aye Nu and Ko Aung Lin Soe, a displaced youth in his 20s. Both are receiving emergency medical treatment.

On October 5, junta forces dropped bombs on the Saytana Free Clinic at an IDP shelter near Pannilar Village, killing a female volunteer healthcare worker.

With junta forces bombing Pannilar Village twice this month alone and causing repeated civilian deaths and injuries, local residents’ fear of aerial attacks has risen sharply.

“Today's bomb landed right inside the village, which was terrifying,” another Pannilar villager said. “All the residents are overwhelmed with anxiety and fear. People do not even know how or where to live safely anymore.”

In October 2025, a junta airstrike targeting Pannilar Village killed five villagers and displaced persons and injured seven others.
