Myanmar coup leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing—who was elected president by the regime-installed Union Parliament on April 3—has formed 31 ministries for his pseudo-civilian government and nominated 30 cabinet members to lead them—some 20 of whom are military figures. Of the nominees, 16 are current regime ministers.

Junta chief-turned-president-elect Min Aung Hlaing on Tuesday submitted a list of nominees for ministers to the Union Parliament, which is dominated by military representatives and the regime’s proxy Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).

The coup leader has nominated General Htun Aung, current air force chief, as the Union minister for defense, Lieutenant General Nyunt Win Swe, current chief of Yangon Regional Military Command and Special Operation Bureau No. 4, as home affairs minister, and Lieutenant General Hpone Myat, current home affairs minister, as border affairs minister.
