A convoy of approximately 200 military vehicles has arrived in Myitkyina, Kachin State, to reinforce junta positions amid ongoing territorial battles, according to ground military sources.
Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) officer Captain Zin Yaw told Mizzima that the massive transport column is destined for the junta’s Northern Command headquarters based in Myitkyina.
“They are primarily replenishing rations, ammunition, and fuel, but it is certain that military personnel are also included. They will transport them secretly. While they use the cover of ‘food and fuel for the public,’ we estimate that significant troop strength is embedded within,” Captain Zin Yaw said.
A frontline member of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) has also independently verified the arrival of the 200 vehicles in the state capital.
Military analysts suggest that this rapid logistics and troop build-up indicates a major looming offensive aimed at reclaiming the strategic Myitkyina-Bhamo Union Highway, a critical artery heavily contested by ethnic resistance forces.
“They will try to open the Myitkyina-Bhamo road,” Zin Yaw analysed. “Since there are columns moving from Shwegu toward Bhamo in the south, once those columns merge, one from the Bhamo side and one from the Myitkyina-Waingmaw side, they will attempt to secure the Union Highway first. We believe they will then launch operations on other fronts.”
This major military build-up comes at a time when the junta administration has completely bypassed the KIA in any formal political outreach, failing to send any correspondence regarding Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) peace talks.
Instead, intense clashes continue to flare up between the Myanmar military and KIA-led joint revolutionary forces across multiple flashpoints in Kachin State and adjacent districts within the upper Sagaing Region.
