Major Wai Yan Lin of Myanmar Armed Forces killed in clash with AA in Nyaungyo

A high-ranking officer from the junta army, Wai Yan Lin, was killed during a confrontation with the Arakan Army (AA) at the battle of Nyaungyo in Bago Division on December 22.

The late Major Wai Yan Lin graduated from the 53rd batch of the Defence Services Academy and held the position of G3 officer within the Yangon Region Command as well as the Regional Command based in Loikaw, according to information reported by the People's Spring, citing military sources.

"Yesterday, I visited your residence. I did not tell your wife to console herself because I myself couldn’t. I merely wished to urge her to remain resilient for the sake of your two children. I offered my prayers to God for the little princess whom you did not have a chance to see," said an individual associated with Maj. Wai Yan Lin as he posted on his social media platform.

The major was killed in combat on December 22 when the troops from the military council moved forward to reclaim the Nyaungyo camp that was held by the Arakan Army (AA).

Numerous junta army soldiers lost their lives in the conflict along with Major Wai Yan Lin, while the junta forces withdrew, suffering significant casualties.
