The Kissapanadi Bridge, a critical transportation link at the entrance of Kyauktaw in Rakhine State, was targeted by a Military Commission jet fighter late on the night of 12 March.

At around 10 pm on 12 March, a jet fighter from the Military Commission flew over Kyauktaw and dropped two 500-pound bombs.

“The bridge sustained minor damage but remains usable, and no injuries were reported,” spokesperson Ko Wai Hun Aung told Mizzima.

According to photos posted by Ko Wai Hun Aung on social media, one bomb struck the top of the bridge while another hit a nearby building, burning it to ashes and leaving large holes in the middle of the bridge.

The Kissapanadi Bridge, which spans the Kaladan River, sits on a key road linking Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya and Myebon townships. The bridge was renovated to ease travel after the Arakan Army (AA) took control of the town, but the recent damage has raised concerns for traffic.

On 8 March, the Military Commission bombed a prisoner-of-war camp in Ann Township, killing 116 people, including senior officers.
