MAI Suspends All International Flights From Mandalay Airport Following Drone Attack

Myanmar Airways International (MAI) has temporarily suspended all international flights from Mandalay International Airport (MDL) following a targeted drone strike on a nearby military facility, according to travel advisories issued today.

A statement released by 9Kirins Travel confirmed that the suspension is due to sudden operational circumstances and will remain in effect until further notice.

Additionally, all domestic flights to and from Mandalay operated by MAI and Mingalar Aviation are being rerouted to Anisakan Airport in Pyin Oo Lwin.

The suspension comes less than 24 hours after revolutionary forces launched a coordinated drone strike on September 10 at approximately 2:00 p.m.

Six drones targeted Mandalay’s Tada-U Air Base, which shares a location with the international airport. The attack reportedly hit four aircraft, leaving two damaged beyond repair.

Affected passengers are being offered the following options:

-Full Refund: Passengers can request a 100% refund of their ticket price.

- Free Route Change: A one-time flight change is available without fees, subject to seat availability.
