The list of seven junta representatives, who automatically became the parliamentary members with the 2008 Constitution enacted by the military government under dictator Than Swe for the Rakhine State Parliament was released today.

They include Colonel Kyaw Thura (Army-25775), Colonel Tun Tun Win (Army-26875), Major Kyaw Zeya (Army-34738), Captain Hlaing Naing (Army-55047), Captain Sit Min Naing (Army-59531), Captain Lwin Aung Myat (Army-74169) and Captain Thet Ko Ko Oo (Navy-5387).

The United Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) won 20 lawmakers in the Rakhine State Parliament, where the Arakan Front Party (AFP) won eight members and Arakan National Party (RNP) seven members, said a source in the election commission.

There will be 34 parliamentary members from 17 Rakhine townships with two members per township, one Chin national and seven military representatives to make it cumulative 42.

These lawmakers include three members for Pyithu Hluttaw representing Rakhine State, nine members for National Hluttaw, 35 members for State Hluttaw and two members for the Rakhine nationalities affairs minister in Yangon and Ayeyarwady divisions.

In the last three-phase election (December 2025 to January 2026) only three townships witnessed the polling as the rest (14 townships) were under the control of the Arakan Army (AA).

According to local sources, the military regime has made major renovations to the Rakhine parliamentary building for the forthcoming parliamentary session by next month. But it remains to be seen whether the Rakhine State Parliament will be able to function smoothly due to frequent shelling and explosions by the AA fighters in various sensitive localities.
