Junta authorities detain three Rakhine youths avoiding war

Three young people from Rakhine, who had been fleeing the conflict in Rakhine State and were recently residing in Mindon Township, Magway Division, have been apprehended by the military and taken in for interrogation.
The detained persons are Maung Win Moe Zaw and Maung Po Wa, who are from Kwe Ku Taung Village in Ann Township, and Maung La Pu Chey, who hails from Ma Ai Town in Taungup Township, all approximately 20 years of age.
The three individuals were taken into custody on the street by the Investigation Support Team (IIT) while they were purchasing medication in Ward (1) in Mindon at around 5 p. m. yesterday, December 2, as informed by a local resident to Narinjara News.
“They are escaping the violence in Rakhine. They were recognized as Rakhine individuals while they were purchasing medicine. The three individuals were apprehended by the authorities and then transferred to the intelligence service for interrogation.”
A local informant related to the detainees reported that their families are extremely concerned since they have not yet been released.
“These young people are innocent individuals. I have been informed that they are currently detained in military barracks in Mindon. Their families feel quite worried because they have not received any updates.”
