A series of Myanmar military airstrikes, targeting displaced civilian enclaves in western Demoso Township, killed one person and injured eight others on September 28, according to residents and human rights monitoring teams.

The bombardments struck three villages situated in a displacement zone between Hteh Su Le and Nan Mei Khon. The attacks hit while many adult residents were away working in nearby agricultural fields, harvesting rice crops funded through personal loans to secure food for their families.

Ground accounts gathered by the local aid organization TTT Group detailed instances of young children sheltering beneath stilt homes during the aerial strike, including a young girl who attempted to shield her younger sibling with her own body as bombs exploded nearby.

Volunteer aid workers on site reported that families across Karenni (Kayah) State face severe survival trade-offs, forced to choose between leaving their children unattended at home or risking starvation by abandoning crop harvests during active conflict.

The September 28 strike forms part of a broader intensification of aerial and heavy artillery bombardment across Karenni State. Between September 1 and September 29, local monitoring records documented 24 separate air-attack incidents involving fighter jets, combat drones, and heavy artillery strikes across Demoso, Hpruso, Bawlake, Mese, Mawchee, Shadaw, and Loikaw townships.

The month-long escalation in military bombardments across the state has resulted in at least 17 civilian fatalities and left 48 others injured, according to field data compiled by local relief entities.
