Junta Airstrike on AA Prison Kills Captured Regime Troops, Relatives in Rakhine

A total of 21 captured regime soldiers and their family members were killed and 30 wounded on Tuesday evening when the Myanmar junta carried out airstrikes against a prison run by the ethnic Arakan Army (AA) housing prisoners of war in Rakhine State, in the country’s west, according to reports by local media.

The prison is located near Chaung Tu Village on the border of Kyauktaw and Ponnagyun townships, both of which are under the control of the ethnic army.

Two fighter jets dropped four bombs targeting the prison facility, the Arakan Army stated. The soldiers and military relatives detained there are due to be released soon under an amnesty, it said.
