FORUM-ASIA urges action against Myanmar junta’s deadly airstrikes

On 19 March, Khin Ohmar, for FORUM-ASIA, gave a statement at the United Nations condemning the Myanmar junta’s increased airstrikes that killed over 1,200 civilians in 2024. 

The statement is as follows:

As the Special Rapporteur’s report rightly indicates, Myanmar peoples’ efforts for a future free from the military tyranny have advanced.

However, in response to this advancement, the junta has intensified violence and atrocities, particularly airstrikes – the only advantage it has over the people’s resistance – with tragic consequences.
