Elections to begin on December 28

The multi-party democratic general election will begin on December 28 and the dates for the subsequent phases will be announced, according to the Union Election Commission announcement on August 18.
The Union Election Commission, in exercise of its powers and duties under Article 399(a) of the Constitution and Section 10 of the Union Election Commission Law, and in accordance with Section 34(c) and Rule 16(a) of the relevant Hluttaw Election Law, will begin holding Phase (1) of the multi-party democratic general election for each Hluttaw on December 28 (Sunday). The dates for the subsequent phases will also be announced, according to the announcement.
The Union Election Commission had already announced the constituencies for the Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyotha Hluttaw, Region and State Hluttaws and ethnic minority constituencies for the multi-party democratic general election to be held in 2025 on August 15.
