Eight civilians killed by paramotor attack in Sagaing Region
At least eight civilians were killed and more than 50 others were injured by a paramotor attack on a hospital in Winmana village, Kanni Township of Sagaing Region, residents told DVB on Tuesday. Kanni, located 40 miles (64 km) north of the Sagaing Region capital Monywa, was seized by the People’s Defence Force (PDF) in 2023.
“Two bombs landed on the maternity ward and patient room of the hospital, killing six civilians instantly. Two injured civilians died later,” a Kanni resident told DVB on the condition of anonymity. The PDF claimed that a paramotor from the Northwestern Regional Military Command (RMC) headquarters in Monywa carried out the attack.
Winmana village has over 1,000 households with nearly 5,000 residents, who have claimed that regime forces from the Northwestern RMC have carried out paramotor and gyrocopter attacks in Kanni and Butalin townships since October. At least 15 civilians were injured by airstrikes in Depayin Township, which is located 98 miles (158 km) west of Kanni on Nov.
