November 2, 2026
Date – 2 November 2026
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,633) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (32,259) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (15,105) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,753) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
In October 2026, the junta carried out deliberate and widespread attacks across various states and regions, conducting airstrikes, drone strikes, and bombings using paramotors, as well as heavy artillery fire. Beginning in early October, the junta conducted aerial bombings on internally displaced persons (IDP) camps and villages in Ponnagyun Township, Rakhine State; areas in Tabayin and Shwebo Townships in Sagaing Region; and internet cafes in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, using jet fighters and drones. These attacks resulted in the death of dozens of civilians, including children under the age of 18, students, and the elderly, while also causing extensive damage to houses and religious buildings.
Furthermore, the atrocities committed by the junta have intensified during the middle and latter part of October. Airstrikes in Thegon Township, Bago Region, and Kantbalu Township, Sagaing Region, led to the death of family members from two households. Additionally, on October 30, a drone bombing took place on a monastery in Taw Kyaung Lay Village, Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, while a Pathana reciting ceremony was taking place, severely injuring a monk. Furthermore, on October 31, the junta conducted an aerial bombing while children were studying at a school for IDPs in Wanngawt village, Loikaw Township, Kayah State, killing three students and injuring several other children. These incidents clearly demonstrate the dire situation. The entire population of the country are facing constant threats to their lives and a profound lack of security.
