Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,442) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (32,009) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,872) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,836) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to September 29, 2026, (54) people in total; (17) women and (37) men, were killed by the junta in Sagaing Region. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (49) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in that region, AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (62) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On September 23, at approximately 11:30 a.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing on villages in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region. The explosions struck Than Bo Village. The shrapnel killed three civilians. Moreover, junta forces conducted an additional aerial bombing near Ta Khun Taing and Man Lel Villages in the township around 4 p.m. that day. Two more civilians were killed from the shrapnel.
