Resistance-Led Chinland Government Vows Solidarity With Aung San Suu Kyi's Party to Build Federal Union

The resistance-led Chinland Government has pledged to maintain a firm political alliance with the National League for Democracy (NLD), vowing to fight alongside the deposed ruling party until Myanmar's military dictatorship is overthrown and a federal union is established.

In a statement issued on Sept. 27 to mark the NLD’s 38th anniversary, Chin authorities recognized the party’s enduring political leadership throughout the post-2021 Spring Revolution, affirming their commitment to aligning with the NLD's political framework to achieve a federal democratic union.

"The Chinland Government will stand with the NLD, follow its political policies, and continue fighting together to overthrow the dictatorship and build the federal union that all ethnic peoples hope for," said Salai Za Thawng, Minister of Social Development for the Chinland Government.

The statement commended the NLD for its historic democratic contributions and its landslide victories in the 1990, 2015, and 2020 general elections, as well as the 2012 by-elections.

Chin leaders praised party members and chairperson Daw Aung San Suu Kyi—who remains detained by the military junta following the February 2021 coup—for their sacrifices in resisting military rule.

In a separate message, the Chin State Parliament urged the NLD to remain steadfast alongside the public on the front lines of the resistance, honoring the party's decades-long history of resisting military repression since its founding on Sept. 27, 1988.
