Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,384) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,926) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,817) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from September 1 to 15, 2026, a total of (22) people; (10) women and (12) men, were killed by the junta’s airstrikes across the country, including (2) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a one-year-old boy. These are the numbers that have been verified. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (32) civilians, as a result of the junta’s airstrike attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On September 4, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using gyrocopters on villages in Pakokku Township, Magway Region. The bombs exploded in Aing Gyi Village and the bomb shrapnel instantly killed family members Win Nu, Khaing Soe Oo and his wife Hnin Nu. Additionally, during the attack, Tint Wai and his wife, Myint Maw, from Pauk Taw Village were also killed instantly from bomb shrapnel.
