⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,237) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,669) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,644) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,863) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to 31, 2026, the junta killed (61) men in total across the country, including (6) boys under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among these deaths, Magway Region recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (27), followed by (10) people in Rakhine State, respectively. Among the causes of death, (32) men were killed by the junta’s Detainment, marking the highest cause of death, followed by (22) men who were killed by the junta’s airstrikes. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (25) men, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On July 31, 2026, junta forces stationed at the Nat Than Kwin Police Station in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region, fired artillery shells at Taw Kyaung Pauk Village. The shells exploded in the village, killing Saw Win Htein from shrapnel.

Within this period between July 1 and 31, the junta arrested (7) men in relation to the Spring Revolution across the country. Among them, (4) people were arrested in Ayeyarwady Region, (1) each person in Chin State, Mandalay Region, Rakhine State.
