Date – 3 June 2026

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,077) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,089) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,267) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,879) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to May 31, 2026, (44) people in total; (20) women and (24) men, were killed by the junta in Magway Region, including (10) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (27) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest number of deaths. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (22) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On April 25, a combined force of Pyu Saw Htee militia, junta troops, and police from Min Village, Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, launched an offensive into Nga Ta Yaw Village and carried out a drone bombing on that village. The attack resulted in the deaths of novice monk Vithuta, who had been in monkhood for four years, Grade-10 student Kyaw Ko Ko (aka Myat Thura Kyaw), and Grade-2 student Hein Nyi Nyi Htet, due to bomb shrapnel.
