Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,936) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.


Since the coup, a total of (30,659) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,369) are currently in detention, (11,234) of whom are serving sentences.


These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.


According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 19, 2026, (12) people in total; (4) women and (8) men, were killed by the junta’s gunfire across the country, including (2) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (12) deceased, Bago Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (4) people killed. (3) were killed in Mon State.


On March 16, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a military column of junta forces consisting of around 100 troops stationed in Dham Ma Nge Village, Nattalin Township, Bago Region, entered into clashes with revolutionary forces while launching an offensive into Hpa Lan Pin Village. During the clashes, the column of junta forces shot and killed three local villagers.
