Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,705) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (30,323) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,745) are currently in detention, (11,483) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to December 31, 2025, across the country the junta arrested (305) people in relation to the Spring Revolution: (98) women and (207) men, including (7) children under the age of 18. Moreover, during the stated period, (103) people in total: (34) women and (69) men, were given prison sentences under specious charges by courts subservient to the junta, and are still detained in prisons across the country. Among them, (3) people were sentenced to the death penalty. (83) people were sentenced in Sagaing Region, recording the highest number of sentences.
On June 27, 2025, junta forces arrested Tun Tun Hlaing from Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. On July 14, 2025, a military tribunal sentenced him to death under Sections 505 and 302 of the Penal Code.
