Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,567) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (30,121) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,688) are currently in detention, (11,433) of whom are serving sentences.
According to the latest information gathered and confirmed by AAPP, (121) people have been arrested under the Election Protection Law, among whom (84) individuals have not yet been identified.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from December 1 to 12, 2025, a total of (43) people; (12) women and (31) men, were killed by the junta across the country. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (43) deceased, (34) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death, and (5) people were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes. During the stated period, AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (74) civilians, as a result of the junta’s attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On December 8, at approximately 4 a.m., junta forces stationed on a strategic hill in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, fired heavy weaponry into Lone Khin Village Tract, Hpakant Township, despite no clashes occurring. The explosions struck houses in Ma Laung Village of the village tract, with the artillery shrapnel instantly killing Zaw Lwin Oo, his wife Tin Moe Hlaing, and their child Phyo Wai Tun.
