Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,438) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,907) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,593) are currently in detention, (11,318) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
On July 7, 2021, Chan Min Hein, a local of Lint Sin Gyi Ywar Thit Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, was arrested by junta forces. He was subsequently sentenced to 16 years in prison under Section 505 A of the Penal Code, Section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, Section 19(f) of the Arms Act, and Section 67 of the Telecommunications Act. While incarcerated in Myingyan Prison, he developed kidney disease and hypertension and did not receive adequate medical care. He was then transferred from Myingyan Prison to Mandalay (Obo) Prison on May 9, 2025. On October 18, 2025, he died while receiving medical treatment at Mandalay General Hospital.
According to the monitoring by the Documentation and Research Department of AAPP, during the last week of October 2025, the junta carried out daily attacks against civilians, resulting in around (32) deaths. On October 29, the junta conducted an airstrike on Nyaung Chay Htauk Village in Katha Township, Sagaing Region, killing five people, including a child. Likewise, on October 30, the junta launched airstrikes on Kyaukphyu and Rathedaung Townships in Rakhine State, and on October 31, it also bombed Ponnagyun Township. As a result, more than 10 civilians were reportedly killed and many others were injured.
