Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,422) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,887) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,575) are currently in detention, (11,293) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to October 29, 2025, the junta killed (298) men in total across the country, including (67) boys under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (83) men killed. Among the (298) deceased, (184) men were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death. (26) were killed by the junta’s gunfire.
On October 25, at approximately 7 a.m., while launching an offensive into Khin Mun Village, Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, junta forces shot and killed Chit Thae Maung, a mute who had been herding cows at the time. They then disposed of his body by placing it in a house and setting it on fire.
