Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,379) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.


Since the coup, a total of (29,838) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,532) are currently in detention, (11,222) of whom are serving sentences.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).


The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.


According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to October 17, 2025, the junta killed (180) women in total across the country, including (38) girls under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the deaths, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities, totaling (53). (11) women were killed in Bago Region. Among the (180) deceased, (120) women were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death.


On October 8, at approximately 10:20 a.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using high-explosive bombs in the vicinity of Kwin Da La, Nyaung Pin Gyi and Thet Kei Kone Villages, in Shwegyin Township, Bago Region. The bomb shrapnel killed Khin Sapal Oo from Kwin Da La Village.
